Hypnotic Intoxication
HYPNOTIC INTOXICATION was a two-part program. The first part was a lecture on the powers that alcohol and addictive drugs play on our lives. How they affect the way we live, the way we act. How they interact in our daily lives. It explores the many aspects of alcohol in our lives and how, if gone unnoticed, it can ruin our lives.
The second part was the highlight of the presentation. In this portion we invited some volunteers on stage, hypnotized them and invited them to a KEITH KARKUT PARTY. Any and all the alcohol they ever wanted was there in unlimited amounts. However, the alcohol is served through the powers of the mind. In actuality, the youth were served water which they thought was the most potent alcohol they have ever had. The presentation allowed their friends to see what really happens when they involve themselves in a severe alcohol situation.
KEITH ended his presentation by closing with a powerful, motivational message that provided the opportunity for some of the youth to experience "deja vue" and others to realize who they really are and what their future holds for them, and how to set their destiny.

Operation Medicine Cabinet

On September 25th, CAPA in partnership with the Brecksville and Broadview Heights Police Departments, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Cuyahoga County Sheriffs Department, held a prescription drug take back day entitled "Operation Medicine Cabinet."
With the help of community and youth volunteers, the event was a huge success.
In fact, our location site collected the most of all the sites in Cuyahoga County, with 277 pounds of unused, unwanted or expired medicines turned in. The total amount that was collected throughout Cuyahoga County was 1085 pounds.

Statewide, the prescription drug take-back day was equally impressive. The exact poundage was 9,545 pounds and covered the following counties: Ashland, Asthabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Holmes, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Richland, Stark, Summit and Wayne county.
In order to measure outcomes related to the event, participants were asked a series of questions including the reason for the disposal and what they would have done with the medicine otherwise. The majority of participants indicated that they were disposing of the medicines because they were expired, with many also saying that they saved unused or expired medicines because they didn't know what to do with them. The second option that most individuals used was the trash for disposal.
