Huddle and Huddle Jr.

Huddle Rope Climbing Event H.U.D.D.L.E.(Helping us Develop Dedication, Leadership and Enthusiasm) is a peer support and leadership group in which high school students participate in school and community based activities promoting positive decision making while increasing their own knowledge and resistance skills. Students are nominated by faculty members and have to fill out an application to be considered for membership. They also must pledge to be alcohol, tobacco and drug free. This year (2010-2011) H.U.D.D.L.E. is comprised of 170 members.

A main goal of H.U.D.D.L.E. is the peer to peer mentoring program for all 6th through 8th grade students. H.U.D.D.L.E. members facilitate the Project Northland program that occurs throughout the school year. The lessons are 25-45 minutes in length and focus on improving decision making skills, increasing parent-child communication, while educating students on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Another initiative that the H.U.D.D.L.E. members have taken on is social norming of alcohol and drug use. In an effort to address the myth that "everyone is using", members created several public service announcements. Their message, entitled, "RESIST. . .Be the Influence" debuted on WKYC Channel 3 on the highschoolsports.net webpage. It will also being airing live the week of October 3, 2010.

H.U.D.D.L.E. members also created several public service announcements to address issues regarding the non-medical use of prescription drugs by youth and the improper disposal of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs.

The HUDDLE program is overseen by CAPA Coordinator, Kelly Lazar and Debbi Serraglio, C.A.P.A. School/Community Assistant.

H.U.D.D.L.E. Jr.

Huddle Jr. students take a new student on a tour of the Middle School.

Is an eighth grade student leadership group under the guidance of Debbi Serraglio, C.A.P.A. School/Community Assistant.
Students in the program must also undergo an application process and must receive recommendations from their teachers. Members have already exhibited leadership qualities in the Middle School, providing tours of the Middle School for incoming sixth grade students and their families during schedule pick-up day.

Throughout the school year they work on school and community service projects and engage in team-building activities. Additionally, members will assist high school H.U.D.D.L.E. students in teaching lessons in sixth grade classrooms.
